Gibraltar become 37th team to ever play in a Netball World Youth Cup.

The hosts of the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 (NWYC2025), Gibraltar, became the 37th team to ever play in a NWYC today as them opened day one of the NWYC2025 against the Cook Islands.

It was the Cook Islands that were victorious, winning the match 29-74, however the hosts never stopped battling in front of their home crowd.

Speaking after the match, Gibraltar Captain, Emma Torres said: “I am so proud of the team, we went out there today and gave it our all.

“To play internationally is always a privilege, but to do so on the world stage in Gibraltar was very special.

“I think the crowd is what kept us going, hearing our names and ‘go gib, go gib’ was amazing.”

You can catch up on the match on NetballPass or the Netball World Cup YouTube channel now.

Gibraltar will be taking to court again tomorrow against Malaysia, at 12pm GMT+2.
