Wales

Wales is a proud sporting nation with a deep love for community, competition, and culture. Netball in Wales continues to grow, with strong youth development pathways and a passionate fan base that supports both grassroots and elite levels. As a bilingual country, our athletes proudly represent a unique national identity rooted in resilience, teamwork, and pride. From the valleys to the cities, netball plays a key role in bringing young people together and inspiring the next generation of Welsh athletes.
Fun fact: Wales has more castles per square mile than any other country worldwide, over 600! Just like our netball spirit, they stand strong and proud across the nation.

Wales has proudly competed in the Netball World Youth Cup since its inception in 1988. Thanks to Welsh netball legend Wendy White, who diligently recorded player names, match results, and tournament details, we have been able to preserve our full youth competition history – she even continued to do so in her volunteer time!
We hosted the Netball World Youth Cup in 2000, welcoming teams from across the globe and showcasing our commitment to growing the sport.
• Our youth pathway has expanded over the years and now includes U15, U17, U19, U21, and U23 categories. This structure has opened up more opportunities for young people in Wales to play netball at a high-performance level.
• Several of our youth players have successfully progressed to the senior national team, the Welsh Feathers. Notably, some of the players who competed at the 2017 NWYC have since become full international athletes, demonstrating the strength and impact of our development pathway. Please see below an image (also attached as Hi-res) that can be used on the website, showcasing players who progressed from the youth team to become Welsh Feathers.
